Todd Braun, owner of Braun Racing, has announced that he will field a car in five NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in 2010. Reed Sorenson will pilot the team’s #32 entry which will be sponsored by Dollar General. Braun Racing, which was started in 2002, fields four full-time teams in the Nationwide Series for a variety of drivers, including Sorenson.
Braun’s Cup schedule will consist of the following five events: Daytona International Speedway (February), Atlanta Motor Speedway (March), Chicagoland Speedway (July), Indianapolis Motor Speedway (July) and Charlotte Motor Speedway (October).
Braun is very excited about expanding into the Cup Series, having this to say about the move.
“Fielding a car in the Daytona 500 has been one of my lifelong dreams,” said Braun. “It is incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to realize that dream. I am so proud of every member of this organization. We’re stepping into the top tier of motorsports and it is a direct result of their hard work and the support of our outstanding marketing partners. It is very special to take this step with our good friends at Dollar General.”
I think that having Braun Racing expand into the Cup Series will only help attract more team owners, sponsors and fans. The team has shown that they have the tools needed to be competitive in the Nationwide Series and with the continued support of Toyota, I believe that they can start laying a strong foundation for the future.
