Officials of Kyle Busch Motorsports have announced that they have signed Kasey Kahne to drive the team’s #18 Toyota. The one-race deal will put Kahne in the driver’s seat for the Truck Series’ inaugural trip to Pocono Raceway for the Pocono Mountains 125 on July 31st. Kahne is no stranger to driving a truck. In 2004, he drove Ultra Motorsports’ #2 truck to two consecutive wins to round out the season. Kahne, who drives kthe #9 Sprint Cup car fulltime, will be making his first start for Kyle Busch Motorsports with Toyota of Scranton as the primary sponsor.
This a great opportunity for Kasey Kahne to get back in a competitive truck. However, it leads me to wonder why Johnny Benson isn’t going to drive the truck. Benson is an employee of KBM and he is looking for a ride so I would have thought that Kyle would have offered him the chance to drive the truck.
