MALSAM SIGNS WITH BRAUN; KBM SHUTS DOWN #56

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Tayler Malsam has signed a contract with Braun Racing to drive the team’s #10 Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Malsam will make his debut for the team at Nashville Superspeedway on June 5th.

As a result of Malsam’s move, Kyle Busch Motorsports will shutter the #56 team for the remainder of the season and turn their focus to trying to capture the Camping World Truck Series owner’s title with the #18 truck.

With all of KBM’s financial problems, I can’t say that I didn’t at least see one of the teams being shut down before the end of the season. KBM is a great team, but it is hard for a team to survive without sponsorship dollars coming in. I believe that if they could find more than one-race sponsorship packages, Kyle Busch Motorsports could be a serious contender for championships in the future. On the other hand, Tayler’s move to Braun is a smart one because he has proven that in good equipment he can run up front and challenge for wins and I believe that Braun Racing is one of the strongest Nationwide teams in the series right now so Tayler shouldn’t have any problem being competitive in the #10 car.
